Within the Region
"Within the region" is a contemporary video program from the Arabic region. It is composed of selections of low budget videos produced throughout 2006 and 2008 by video artists from the Arab countries. As a touring program, this selection is to be shown at various art spaces around the world by 2009.
The program aims to create different off-show chances that focus on contemporary low budget experimentations of video artists from the Arab world.
Videos have been selected according to values of geographical and regional matters, considering all the ways of expressing cultural, racial, social or even political identity.
During the program, discussion forums and critiques will take place to activate the exploration of viewing and rephrasing the surrounding medium, as an engine for cultural exchange.
By the end of the touring program, a publication will be made and documentation for all kinds of actions that surrounded the program at each tour stop will be included.
